The other poll doesn't quite cut to the heart of the matter so I am starting a new one that is much more direct and clear.

I don't like the fact you and anyone else call it pay to win ... no one of us has tested it yet so how you already can call it pay to win?

The way in which the devs have described it fits the accepted definition of pay to win.

And I'd like to include MWO on that list.

So I'd take it you've tried the Gold AC20 ammo then, since you absolutely know we will have P2W consumables in MWO?

This thread is about the implementation of consumables as described by the devs themselves.

If you disagree on the P2W label, here is someone that posted a very nice summary of the main problem (lost the source in the mass-merging yesterday):

Lets assume youre in a mech with 4 module slots. With c-bills you buy:
Coolant Flush (1 + 2) and Airstrike (1 + 2). Ok cool. You're rockin both coolant flush and airstrike or whatever it turns out to be at their MC price equivalents.

Now you fight a guy that spent MC. He's rocking Coolant Flush (3), Airstrike (3), Longtom Artillery (3) and Care-Package (or whatever, 3).

Who has the advantage?

Q: Does the tier 3 coolant flush, as described in Paul Inouyes's posting, have an effect on gameplay?
A: Yes.
Q: Can the tier 3 coolant flush be purchased without spending real money?
A: No.
Q: Is there any conceivable scenario in which PGI would add an MC-purchaseable item without an incentive to buy it?
A: No.
Q: All this considered, is the tier 3 coolant flush P2W?
A: Yes.

I will worry about it if it ever happens, till then all of these posts are redundant, pedestrian, and uneccessary.

What gives you the idea that consumables are only available to people that pay money? You are jumping the gun so you can tout your pet issue. Go back to your basement until you have definitive evidence that mwo is pay to win.

How are they pay-to-win? Yes, the MC coolant flush gives a larger amount of cooling in one go, but you use it once and that's it. If the price is small, like buying a mechbay or whatever, then I may change my stance. But, so far, what I've read is not pay-to-win.

You missed the part where the MC coolant takes 1 module slot for 35% while the CB one takes 2 modules slots for 35%

Bad, I feel bad. But at the same time, the thought that someone is SPENDING MONEY to kill me gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Did you read the post? you can stack a small and a medium that will = 35% the mc only coolant flush = 35%. You have to shell out c-bills every time but the ability is there for everyone. The mc coolant flush is a convenience item only. Your argument is moot.

I like the idea of consumables (with CBills), and like the idea of coolant flush and other modules. However, creating a new tier of items that directly equal a space saver, allowing the most optimal builds to be solely through an MC purchase, has become the problem.

The most optimal builds would basically now be created through MC purchases. The concept is great (adding more modules), the p2w just needs to be stripped. Modules only cost CBills/GXP, it should remain that way. They are a part of the game, not a money grab.
